Join the UT Arboretum Society for a journey through the vast and varied Appalachian Mountain range as our presenter, Melody Rose, guides us on a close-up review of our native woodland species. You will gain a deeper appreciation of how our current knowledge of plants has evolved through generations of multiple cultural influences. We will also explore the lore of our region as we listen to the plants tell their stories in this Zoom presentation on Tuesday, July 20th at 7:00 p.m.

Registration for this free online event is required to receive your Zoom link. To register go to: utarboretumsociety.org and click on the event. The program will be recorded. Contact Michelle Campanis regarding any questions or registration issues: mcampani@tennessee.edu

Leading this program is Melody Rose, Extension Agent III in Greene County, Tennessee. In addition to serving on the University of Tennessee Extension’s Statewide Consumer Horticulture Team, she is currently chairing the Fruit & Vegetable Team and serving on the Master Gardener, Consumer Horticulture Marketing, and Sustainable Landscape teams.

Growing up in a rural farming community in the Western North Carolina mountains near Waynesville, Melody gained an appreciation for bluegrass music - yes, she does play - and the hard work ethic of farming burley tobacco. She calls the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains home.

In accordance with the University of Tennessee guidelines for COVID-19 precautions, programs are currently being presented online. Though the UT Arboretum Society’s educational programs are not on-site activities, the UT Arboretum Society is pleased to bring the public some great online options.

The Forest Resources AgResearch and Education Center which celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2014, is one of ten outdoor laboratories located throughout the state as part of the UT AgResearch system. AgResearch is a division of the UT Institute of Agriculture. The Institute of Agriculture also provides instruction, research and public service through the UT Herbert College of Agriculture, the UT College of Veterinary Medicine, UT AgResearch and UT Extension offices, with locations in every county in the state.
